About

The Molecular Genetics and Inflammation Unit conducts research into chronic inflammatory lung disease. The team have identified 10 different genetic variants that increase a person’s risk of having allergies, such as asthma. They continue to work to identify which specific genes are involved and if they can be targeted by new drugs to treat or prevent allergic diseases. The Molecular Genetics and Inflammation Unit are recognised as world leaders and have an extensive collaborative network with the leading researchers in asthma throughout Australia and internationally.
