Help Shape Future Research – Join the Consumer Advisory Group at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital

Lived with pleural effusion and heart, kidney or liver failure? Your voice matters.

The Centre for Innovative Pleural Research at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital is calling for people with lived experience of pleural effusion and organ failure to join a Consumer Advisory Group.

This paid role will give you the chance to work alongside researchers and help guide a clinical research project that aims to improve treatment and care. You’ll receive $37.50 per hour for your time and input.

As part of the group, you’ll:

• Join monthly or quarterly meetings
• Review documents like grant applications, consent forms and surveys
• Share your lived experience to shape recruitment and research planning.

No research background is needed – just your experience and confidence to speak up in a group. Most meetings are held online using Zoom or Microsoft Teams.

To join, you need to:

• Have had a pleural effusion and heart, kidney or liver failure
• Be comfortable taking part in group discussions
• Know how to use Zoom or Teams.

This is your chance to make a real difference for future patients and help researchers focus on what matters most to the people affected.
