The Kelly Gang
Kat and Hannah’s Dad’s family grew up in Wittenoom, WA, before the town was closed due to contamination from asbestos mining. Their family is one of the many families that have been (and continue to be) affected by asbestosis and mesothelioma.
Hannah and Kat took part in HBF Run for a Reason to raise money for the Institute to contribute to research and clinical trials relating to mesothelioma and other respiratory conditions. They ran in memory of those who have lost their lives to mesothelioma, including their Pop and Uncle (Allan and Jimmy Kelly).
Olivia
Oliver took part in the HBF Run for a Reason to support research into sarcoidosis.
The Stewart family
Participated in the HBF Run in memory of Val and Ron, who died within months of each other due to chronic lung disease. In a short space of time, their lives were cut short and three children lost both cherished parents.
Most Australian families know someone with a chronic respiratory disease and the shortened life span together with the lack of effectively treating them produces significant heartache. They wanted to help raise awareness and money for respiratory research to help alleviate chronic lung diseases such as those that killed their dear friends.
The Clinical Trials Unit
The Clinical Trials team took part in the HBF Run for a Reason to help make a difference for patients living with a respiratory illness.
Alana
Since starting work at the Institute, Alana has been amazed and inspired by the work the staff do and also the strength of the patients we deal with. She wanted to bring more awareness to the area of Respiratory Health and support future research.
Team Metronet
Team Metronet raised money to increase awareness of respiratory health.
